1. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom.

음행하는 자들이나 우상 숭배자들이나 간음하는 자들이나 부자연스러운 목적을 위하여 있는 남자들이나 남자와 동침하는 남자들[은] ··· 하느님의 왕국을 상속받지 못할 것입니다.

2. In the Corinthian congregation there were some who had been homosexuals, as well as others who had been thieves, greedy persons, extortioners, drunkards, adulterers and idolaters.

‘고린도’ 회중에는 도적, 탐욕적인 자, 토색하는 자, 술 취하는 자, 간음하는 자 및 우상 숭배하는 자들이었던 사람들 외에 동성애자들이었던 사람들도 있었다.

3. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.

음행하는 자들이나 우상 숭배자들이나 간음하는 자들이나 부자연스런 목적을 위하여 있는 남자들이나 남자와 동침하는 남자들이나 도둑들이나 탐욕스러운 자들이나 술취하는 자들이나 욕하는 자들이나 강탈하는 자들은 하느님의 왕국을 상속받지 못할 것입니다.

4. The Bible states regarding practicers of homosexuality: “Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals . . . will inherit the kingdom of God.” —1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Revised Standard Version, Catholic edition.

성서는 동성애를 습관적으로 행하는 사람들에 관해 다음과 같이 말한다. “미혹을 받지 말라 음란하는 자나 우상 숭배하는 자나 간음하는 자나 탐색하는 자나 남색하는 자[동성애자, 「개역 표준역」 가톨릭판][들은] ··· 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못하리라.”—고린도 전 6:9-11.

5. The apostle Paul warns that “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom,” and to the list of vices he adds also “uncleanness, loose conduct.”

사도 ‘바울’은 “음란하는 자나 우상 숭배하는 자나 간음하는 자나 탐색하는 자나 남색하는 자 ··· 들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못하리라”고 경고합니다. 그리고 그는 비행의 목록 중에 “더러움과 방탕”도 부가하였읍니다.

6. The Bible, however, states that it is God’s will for all to “abstain from fornication” and that “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom.”

하지만, 성서는 모든 사람이 “음란[음행, 신세]을 버리”는 것이 하나님의 뜻이며, “음란[음행]하는 자나 우상 숭배하는 자나 간음하는 자나 탐색하는 자나 남색하는 자[들은] ··· 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못”할 것이라고 말한다.
